Revolutionising arena comfort through next-generation HVAC innovation
As arena operators and developers face rising energy costs and increasing pressure to decarbonise, the need for smarter, more flexible climate control solutions has never been greater. At the Arenas Operators and Developers World Summit, the Cross Group will explore how innovation is reshaping the future of live venues.
Joe Conway (left), Commercial Director at Cross Group, will present on how Sintra MIX-IND’s patented HVAC technology is transforming heating, cooling and comfort in arenas and exhibition halls. His session on 20 February will highlight how adaptable, high-efficiency systems can support multi-purpose venues while significantly reducing energy consumption and enhancing fan experience. Conway tells us more…
What key topic will you be addressing at the summit, and why is it particularly relevant for arena operators and developers right now?
“We are introducing a new-generation HVAC solution for indoor arenas and exhibition spaces. Sintra MIX-IND is a unique and innovative patented HVAC technology that delivers unparalleled performance and substantial energy savings compared with conventional systems. As energy prices continue to rise globally and the push for decarbonisation intensifies, Sintra offers the ideal solution. Easy and quick to install, suitable for both new builds and retrofitting, and able to accommodate any heating or cooling source, Sintra presents arena managers and developers with the best approach to maintaining ideal temperature conditions.”
How does your company help solve a major challenge currently facing live-venue operators?
“All the indoor arenas for the Paris 2024 Olympics were equipped with Sintra to facilitate sporting events with versatile audience and event requirements. The Sintra solution we offer meets several critical challenges that live-event venue managers encounter. A significant reduction in energy expenditure and enhanced comfort are among the main achievements. Sintra is also designed to be responsive and flexible, enabling it to quickly adapt and manage climate control efficiently for multi-purpose venues, accommodating various events and changes in internal layouts.”
What outcomes or collaborations are you hoping to see emerge from this event?
“We hope to engage with arena developers and operators, and their facilities teams, to understand the key concerns and challenges they face in providing indoor temperature control and comfort for audiences and visitors. We want to showcase various case study examples of European arenas currently benefiting from Sintra technology. We would love to help design new HVAC solutions for both new and existing arenas, supported through a range of finance models.”
How does your company help enhance engagement, satisfaction, or loyalty among event-goers?
“In any event or large gathering of people, climate comfort is critical to the experience and enjoyment of both audiences and performers. In addition, Sintra has been approved by several European sporting bodies due to its closely controlled air movement, including badminton and cycling.”
What trends in arena operations do you think will shape the next 3-5 years?
“Arenas are becoming increasingly diverse, with multi-use facilities hosting a wider range of events and generating multiple revenue streams. New arenas are being designed with futureproofing in mind. Our Sintra HVAC design solutions are bespoke and offer maximum versatility and adaptability.”
